“Rich hair-like and densely packed acicular crystals of lustrous metallic Owyheeite, associated with cubic crystals of Pyrite (overall 2.4 x 1.4 x 1.3 cm; 6 g). This specimen was initially sold as “Bismuthinite”, as usual for fibrous sulfosalts from China; however, SEM-EDX and two single-crystal X-ray diffraction experiments run on two acicular (composite) crystals (4.08, 22.88, 27.27 Å, ~90. ~90. ~90°, V ~2550 Å3 and 4.10, 22.94, 27.37 Å, ~90, ~90, ~90°; V=2577 A3) revealed this fibrous sulfosalt to be Owyheeite. Said to be from Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang Co., Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China. Note, however, that at that time, Owyheeite has not been reported from the Yaogangxian mine, but it is reported from the Fuwang Ag deposit, Changkeng-Fuwang Au-Ag deposit, Gaoyao Co., Zhaoqing Prefecture, Guangdong Province, China. The exact locality remains therefore somewhat doubtful, but the latter locality is more probable. ”
