FOV 4.6 x 3.5 mm. Via Fred Parker (1970s). Columnar (rather than pseudocubic) xls partially embedded in a very compact aggregate of what appears to be lawsonbauerite. The (overexposed) white fibers are fluoborite. Note added Dec 2021: Another fragment from the original specimen has now been analyzed by Joy Desor using SEM-EDS, Raman, and SXRD. The result was a surprise. Three pairs of probe points on the matrxi all gave SEM-EDS results closer to torreyite than to mooreite or lawsonbauerite. Four of the probes were so-so matches for torreyite, but two were quite good. For Raman, only a comparison with mooretite could be made. The result was poor. Most signifiantly however, the SXRD match with torreyite was very good. It was not very good for mooreite and poor for lawsonbauerite. So it may well be that some or even most of the matrix is torreyite rather than lawsonbauerite. (That would explain the light color. Almost all lawsonbauerite specimens are quite dark, presumably due to oxidation of the Mn.) See [https://www.mindat.org/photo-920829.html]. (The pyrochroite on that fragment was also analyzed and found to be - in fact - pyrochroite.)
