“field of view appx. 1 x 3 cm This is a most unusual Sulfur specimen. It looks like a piece of canary yellow coral. It is very common to find etched Sulfur crystals at the Maybee quarry (actually, crystals with well formed faces are hard to find there). The etching is most likely a form of dissolution. This specimen exhibits this dissolution to an extreme with many 'tunnels' extending deep into the Sulfur and with several going all the way through. The specimen is from a collection from suburban Detroit and was probably collected in the 1960s. It is in very good to excellent condition which is amazing since the newspapers it and other specimens were wrapped in had completely deteriorated.”
