8.6 x 6.8 x 6.5 cm. A rare style, highly unusual, old-time, rich and very showy galena and calcite combination from Neudorf. Sharp, moderately lustrous, frosted, complex galena cuboctahedrons, to 2.8 cm, are richly and aesthetically clustered atop the hefty mounded ore matrix of galena and calcite. The fascinating aspect is that you can clearly see where calcite has seemingly replaced/pseudomorphed sharp galena crystals. The sharp galenas on the crest are a secondary galena overgrowth, as the pseudomorphs underlie the galenas. A striking and rare combination. The calcite has moderate pink fluorescence. Comes with an old faded and torn label that probably dates to the mid-1800s or earlier.
