“The sample is 5 cm x 4 cm.
The euhedral tan coloured Malayaite crystals occur in the interstacies of the Andradite crystals. One is located by the arrow. The Malayite crystals fluoresce so strongly in SW UV that even the smallest crystals are identifiable. Cream coloured, euhedral, fluorescent Malayaite crystals, seen in the upper right of the photograph, are coated by a light brown coloured, non-fluorescent, crystalline phase on many of the crystals, as can be seen in the centre of the photograph. This supresses the fluorescence to the termination faces and edges of the Malayaite crystals. The coating has not been identified but it may be another tin silicate. ”
