“This is a sample of three halite crystals in a plastic bag, sealed to prevent contact with atmospheric humidity and is still intact. The sample is posterior to 1950 (start of polyethylene bags production) but anterior to 1980 when the mine was accidentally flooded as a result of a Texaco drill. The halite came from the Salt Dome on Jefferson Island, Louisiana.”
