“Nacaphite surrounded by nephedovite grains.
This photo modified by Combine ZP. It consists of several exposures combined to improve depth of field.
Camera: Nikon D3300 body on a Zeiss Standard microscope frame. Objective: Nikon A2x/0.06na with an Olympus NFK 2.5x projective ocular.
Purchased micromount specimen. Component minerals identified by dealer. The two minerals are similar in chemistry but differ in hardness. Nacaphite is H3 while nefedovite is H4.5. The small mark just to the left of the center of the photo is a small scratch from a fragment of sphalerite, indicating a hardness of less than H3.5.”
