Globular or spherical structures highlighted by marine erosion.
Peripheral part of a pillow-lava in which these spheroidal formations called variolites stand out.
They form from cavities due to the release of magmatic gases which are subsequently filled by secondary minerals such as plagioclases and zeolites.
