Chemically resembles gagarinite-(Y). Indeed, inferred to be isostructural with this species and related to it as described by a substitution: NaCa(Y,REE)F6-Na1.5(Y,REE)1.5F6.

As grains, up to 0.5 mm in diameter, intergrown with quartz. In metasomatic formations, with riebeckite, astrophyllite, zircon, a pyrochlore group species, albite, and microcline.
