Formula:
CaCa2(Z2+4Z3+)(Si5Al3O22)(OH,F,Cl)2
Z2+ (= IMA C2+ position) = Mg or Fe2+
Z3+ (= IMA C3+ position) = Al or Fe3+
W = F or (OH)
On mindat.org we avoid using variables with the same symbol as elements and deviate from the IMA nomenclaure in that we use X rather than B, Z rather than C and (OH,F,Cl,O) rather than W.

Name:
Named after Elio Cannillo (b.1938) of Pavia, Italy, for his contribution to our understanding of the crystal chemistry of rock-forming minerals, particularly pyroxenes and amphiboles.
Canniloite root name minerals are defined as monoclinic amphiboles in the calcium amphibole subgroup with A(Ca)≥0.5 apfu and C 0.5≤(Al + Fe3++2Ti)≤1.5. The individual cannilloite minerals are defined by their dominant divalent and trivalent element in the C position and the dominant element in the W position.
Only fluor-cannilloite has been found in nature.
