I thought it was something, and ask a friend, Jason Barret, to grab it to see if it was anything. I was on the trackhoe and didnt feel like climbing ...
Feb 2012Re: Are you coming to the Tucson show next year?Reply from Bryan Major in Mineral Shows.I've never been out there, what would anyone recommend being the best time to go to catch part of the Quartzite show and part of the Tuscan show if thats possible? Also, is there any chance of getting a booth space anywhere in either locations on the spot or is everything basically pre-registered ...
Jun 2011Re: Finding amethyst in my gardenReply from Bryan Major in General. These were all found in virgin material, some within just a few feet from the surface i South Carolina. Sure, we have had many many ft of erosion, but many area have eroded right down perfectly to the area of the veins. I'm sure whats being found is not just from a collection, but there is always ...
Jun 2011Re: worlds biggest emerald found - another news headline jokeReply from Bryan Major in General.I was thinking the same thing, I have some beryls from Georgia that are better and bigger than what this piece looks like! Mine are more aqua colored beryl but still.
Jun 2011Re: Finding amethyst in my gardenReply from Bryan Major in General. You are in the right area to find such gemstones. I'm sure your in natural veins or weathered material. I own a mine in South Carolina. The best stuff on the east coast seems to run from middle upper Georgia through my area and through your area, although it does run all the way up to Maine. ...

Jun 2011South Carolina Amethyst Cut StonesPosted by Bryan Major in General. These are a few stones that I have found over the last 5 years from Diamond Hill in South Carolina that I finally got cut. The bigger center one is 42 ct. I could have wiped them down more before I took the pics, maybe I'll take a few more and include the other similar ones that I'm getting set ...
May 2011Re: Kid finds a HUGE DT AmethystReply from Bryan Major in General. This is another picture of it. This was the only way I could figure out how to get the picture off my phone. The link is from my picture files. The color is hidden due to the sun shining over the oxides staining. Cant wait to see it cleaned!

May 2011Re: Kid finds a HUGE DT AmethystReply from Bryan Major in General. There are many more in the dump piles there! For the past 10+ years a machine to big for the job was used, being the key reason for so much great stuff being missed. Thing about this piece is that it has no damage, dont see how it got rolled around without getting damaged, but just amazing that ...
