What is the blue matrix material in this Killa Saifullah District, Pakistan brucite photo?

The matrix of the Pakistani brucites has carbonate, mainly in the form of hydromagnesite. I suspect this one has been treated with copper sulphate, in order for the copper to react with the hydromagnesite and create an interesting color contrast. If I'm right, it's a faked specimen; if I'm wrong, it's a really interesting specimen!

How would you explain the attached picture? The CuSO4 reacted just with the carbonate hydromagnesite and not with the hydroxyde brucite and the matrix?

Still, if I had to bet for a beer I would choose artificial.

Well, we know that CuSO4 reacts with calcite and aragonite - That experiment has been done many times before. Will it react similarly with brucite? I don't know, but you've inspired me to try it, Christian!

May be wrong, but I have a very similar specimen labeled Brucite on Chrysocolla
