Hi, ....have read the "User and Contributor Manual" but questions remains. In the manual it states:"If the mineral is already listed at the locality, you can select it from the Quick List to automatically add it to the list of minerals/rocks. If the mineral is not listed at the locality, you can enter the mineral name, select “find,” and choose the matching mineral from the drop-down menu – however, if you are selecting a mineral in this manner, you MUST include information about how the specimen was identified, or the image will not be approved".


Have two (2) questions:


1. Uploaded a specimen of Peristerite.........the upload form would only allow me to list it as Albite (which it is). Could not have form list it as "Albite (var: Peristerite)". What am I doing wrong?


2. Also..."you MUST include information about how the specimen was identified". What constitutes identified, if one does not have a laboratory certification? I am not a geologist, mineralogist, just an amateur collector.


Any help would be appreciated.
