GeneralFluorite ox eyes - is there a scientific term ?
9th Aug 2010 07:04 UTCPeter Seroka
There are certain fluorite crystals with stratified silicate (feldspar) interlayers, which German collectors call "Ochsenaugen" , a term, which had directly been translated (by Germans) into English language as "ox eyes" or "bull's eyes".
Does anyone know, whether there is a scientific English (US) term for such formations, other than "ox or bull' s eyes" ?
Thanks
Peter

When I put Ochsenaugen into my translator it gives me a direct translation of 'Eggs sunny side up'.
So Maggie you were closer than it seemed...lol
I have however added both Ochsenaugen and Augen into the glossary.

Now I'll be unable to get "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" out of my head for a week.
