Under name the diacritical mark is missing. And Prof. Eotvös Loránd (1848-1919), was more than a physicist. Mathematics his second subject; an important person as a politician, even "Kultusminister" (german language) of Hungary. And as an alpinist he opened several routes in the Italian dolomites.

Jürgen is right, the diacritical mark is really missing. Moreover Loránd was his first name and Eötvös was his surname (Hungarians write names reversely). Eötvös was one of the fathers of modern geophysics, he constructed the Eötvös (torsion) balance in 1891 which revolutionized the oil explorations.

He also found out that the surface tension of a liquid decreases as the actual temperature approaches the critical temperature. The relationship is known as Eötvös's rule (because it is not obeyed by strongly associated liquids).
