A former Au-Ag mine located in the near center of the section in the SW¼ (estimated) sec. 27 (& 32 ?), T4S, R18E, MDM, 0.5 km (1,600 feet) SW of Colorado School, along Long Canyon Creek, on private and unpatented land. The property consisted of 1 fractional patented claim plus 2 unpatented claims. Produced 1915 to 1938. Operated by Corinne Kratzer, F. E. and P. W. Judkins, et al (timeframe = ?). Owned and operated by the Colorado Quartz Gold Mining Co. (1990). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is a fissure vein deposit with a vein 2 to 6 feet thick, hosted in Late Permian slate and metasedimentary rock. The ore body is a pinch & swell body striking N50W and dipping 70NE at a thickness of 1.83M to/or 2.13 meters thick. Sandy metasediments have been intruded by greenstone dikes and sills 1-3 feet thick. The vein averages 1.5 to 2 feet thick, chiefly banded quartz. The ore shoots are 30 to 75 feet wide and pitch about 45 degrees. Strike and dip of slaty cleavage near the shaft is roughly parallel to the vein and to the bedding planes. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings, which, in 1915, consisted of a 500 foot adit level, 140 foot raise to surface, another 65 foot raise and a 13 foot winze. Mention is also made of a 200 foot inclined shaft, a 300 foot long stope, and a 200 foot drift.

Nothing is recorded of early production. About 2,500 tons of ore were mined in the late 1920's which ran $10 to $11 per ton with some development rock running $8/ton (period values). Total production probably does not exceed $50,000 (period values).
