Large-scale potassium metasomatite (Kuranakh type), hosted in Archean and Proterozoic metamorphic rocks and Paleozoic and Mesozoic granite, east of the Dahuabei intrusion. There are three types of veins occurring along the bedding and schistosity of metamorphic rocks: quartz-K feldspar veins, quartz veins and gold-bearing carbonate-chalcedony veins. The main alterations in the vicinity of the veins include K feldspar alteration, silica alteration, pyrite alteration, carbonate alteration, sericite alteration, kaolinite alteration and chlorite alteration. The deposit is interpreted as related to magmatic hydrothermal fluids derived from the Dahuabei intrusion and related dykes. Gold was probably leached out of the Archean metamorphic rock; its deposition time is probably Paleozoic and Mesozoic.
Located 50 km west of Baotou city.

Geochronology
Mineralization age: Permian : 290 Ma to 270 MaImportant note: This table is based only on rock and mineral ages recorded on mindat.org for this locality and is not necessarily a complete representation of the geochronology, but does give an indication of possible mineralization events relevant to this locality. As more age information is added this table may expand in the future. A break in the table simply indicates a lack of data entered here, not necessarily a break in the geologic sequence. Grey background entries are from different, related, localities.
