Other/historical names associated with this locality:
Auvergne; Rhône-Alpes

- Quartz-galena vein and gossan : at the beginning of the village, on left side of the road ; 650 meters east, under the road to the village ; on the path from the road to Belmont to road D4.
- Very old exploitations about 500 meters north-east from Belmont : granitic pegmatites with white quartz and cassiterite vein. Old gold workings. (J. Dorlhac, Revue de l'Industrie Minérale, 1862, T VIII, L3).

Two type of mineralizations can still be seen :
- Microcrystalline/heterogranular/mosaic red quartz (with hematite) brecciating host rocks.
This type of quartz contains numerous "ghosts" of plagioclase laths. This formation is very probably the result of the silification of a dolerite vein.
Galena, sphalerite and sulphosalts are associated with this type of quartz.

- "Hot" (pegmatitic) quartz associated with pyrrhotite, arsenopyrite and schorl.

Host rocks : anatexites and granites.
