Opencast gold mine. This is part of the central north-south strking superpit with sections from the south called Nim 3, Moore, Deakin, Nim 6, Northwest, Nim 1 and Nim 2. It is part of the Jundee Gold Mine complex containing ten open pits, and 3 underground portals accessing numerous lodes.
Gold mineralisation is hosted by brittle-ductile shear zones, developed within the dacitic Mitchell Porphyry. This is inturn intruded by a broad porphyritic granodiorite Moore dyke, 56 metres below the surface, which cross-cuts and post dates the gold deposition. The deposit is unusual as the gold was deposited 40 million years earlier than most other documented gold deposits in the Yilgarn Block.
