A copper(-gold) mine discovered in 1846, it now encompasses The Kanmantoo mine, Kanmantoo West, Kanmantoo North and the Kanmantoo Heap Leach Site.

SARIG Record Sheet States;
"KANMANTOO MINERAL FIELD;
dominated by deposits of exhalative base metal mineralisation in host deformed and metamorphosed metasediment of the Cambrian Kanmantoo Group. Major mine is the Kanmantoo Copper Mine with mineralisation developed in feeder structures presumably to be the metal source for the overlying Cu-Au mineralisation associated with BIF and garnet-quartz rock. Commodities that have been commercially mined include Cu, Pb, Zn, Ag, Au, As, Bi. Discovered in 1846 production mainly of copper had ended by 1938 for an estimated mining of 55-61,000 tonnes of ore for recovery of 5100 tonnes copper metal, 10,500kg silver, 100 tonnes lead metal, >50 tonnes Arsenic metal, and an unrecorded quantity of gold. Also some bismuth, amount unrecorded, and 1680 tonnes of zinc from Aclare Mine. Kanmantoo Mine re-opened in 1973 with production recorded of 4.05Mt @ 1.1%Cu for 39,000 tonnes copper metal product. remaining resources at Kanmantoo Mine have been estimated at 301,000 tonnes copper, 104,000 kg silver, 6700 kg gold.

Mine Commodities: Copper, Garnet, Silver, Gold

District Major
Commodities: Copper, Lead, Zinc, Silver, Gold:"

Currently re-developed by Hillgrove Resources. Mining and stockpiling of ore is expected to commence in March 2011, with first Cu–Au production scheduled for fourth quarter 2011.
