The Argo (Explorer 46) deposit was discovered by Geopeko in 1968. Drilling uncovered a resource of 253 000 tonnes of ore at 14.8 g/t Au. Shaft sinking began in January 1984, with mine production May 1986 to May 1988, producing 309 945 tonnes of ore at 8.3 g/t Au.
The location is 5 kilometres south-east of Tennant Creek, and an access road heads south from the Peko Mine Road at the Barkly Camp. The site appears largely rehabilitated, with an old tailings dam footpint, and some mullock remaining.
