Lost and Stolen SpecimensLost or inappropriately kept specimen # 2

12th May 2010 20:45 UTCJonathan Zvonko Levinger Expert

here is me again, yesterday I turned 65 but the "old timer syndrome" kicked in at least year earlier.

About a year ago some one borrowed a specimen of Suolunite, my best and largest available for sale.

It was to be shown to a potential buyer and within two weeks I was to get the money or the specimen.

Time went by and I forgot this all together and only about six months ago I was reminded of it by a buyer on eBay who made me an offer considerably lower than my 10K asking price. At this point it all flashed back and realizing that specimen is not in my possession I refused the offer and canceled the listing. Ever since I am asking around and kicking my head but no trace of the specimen and I can't remember who was the forgetful borrower. That beautiful Suolunite may be a door stopper some place or simply forgotten in a back of a car.

I know that this makes me look stupid and I feel that way.

If any one of you gets to see it some place please let me know, I will gladly reward you with a specimen of Suolunite.

Cheers to all, Jonathan

Johnathan, it happens to us all.

What I do now is carry my phone and make notes on it for reference later. As soon as I am told an appointment time, I stop and make sure to enter it in my smart phone/PDA.

Perhaps you might do so with your device when you loan specimens. Can't hurt!

Happy B-Day Jonathan,

I have one idea for you, enter "suolunite" into the search feature of your email program ... could this help locate the lost specimen?

Good Day!

All I can hope for now that if some one sees a Suolonite that is round and size of a half medium size cantaloupe I will get a message about it.

I have quiet a few of this and some large ones but this is a special piece.

This specimen is back with me again. It was returned in a rather mysterious way. Wrapped in the same bubble wrap sack it left in it was left on my porch. So I got the specimen back but still do not know who had it on "consignment" for more than a Year. It is possible that my blog on Mindat is responsible for its return.
