What or who is Mineral Associates Inc? Just curious.

Thanks,

Michael

Lazurite is on the list of minerals found there. I find that hard to believe, it is more likely sodalite.

Funny you should mention that. That's actually what made me check the reference.

could it be confused with azurite? Azurite has been found as coatings in the madoc area like at canada talc. Just a thought

Hello Matt,

Good point that would make sense considering all the copper minerals, but why no malachite? That is usually much more common than azurite.

Possibly a typo - I'll look into it.

Edit: Message sent.

Michael,

I believe Mineral Associates Inc is the company John hired to assay his property..Not sure where they are from?? I think they also did some blasting on a spot that has some outcrops of Schorl..

I did see a newspaper clipping in his rockshop of the bast as it was occuring.. I haven't peresonally collected at any of his sites but there are some odd occurrences on his property..

Andrew.

The only reference I can find to Mineral Associates Inc. on the net is a recycled white pages listing for a company in Texas. If the same company did the blasting in Coe Hill then it's probably not the same one.

There should be more info coming shortly on the reference.

Mineral Associates Inc. is at 171A Rink St., Peterborough, ON K9J 2J6. Tel.705-745-3083, Fax: 705-745-7691 don't know the email address. That is off the handout they gave me at Coe Hill Gold.

Thanks Reiner, I checked with Michal who added all the data for this location. He's probably looking at the same handout you've got (which apparently does say lazurite). Not a data entry error then, but it doesn't rule out an earlier error. Curiouser and curiouser - have to go to the source.

The other thing my handout says is that the lazurite is with pyrite.

If you look at the geological maps of the Wollaston Twonship area the nepheline syenite belt does not extend that far south so the sodalite group would be unusual. The area is largely marble with feldspathic gneisses.

Without any better reference as to method of testing, etc. we'll set the 'Lazurite' to erroneously reported. If real specimens are ever seen, let alone analysed, by anyone, we can always put it back with an adequate reference.
